10 ATHLETES GET OLYMPICS SOLIDARITY SCHOLARSHIPS

The Olympics solidarity scholarship program has awarded grants to 10 selected athletes and 2 team Sports.

This has been facilitated through the National Olympics Committee of Zambia.

Those awarded are RHODA NJOBVU and NIDDY MINGILISHI from athletics, PATRICK CHINYEMBA, STEPHEN ZIMBA and MARGRET TEMBO from Boxing.

Others are STEVEN MUNGA’NDU and SIMON ZULU of Judo, MIA PHIRI and GEORGE MWABA of swimming and BUNTY HOWARD from Equestrian.

The Team sports awarded the Copper Queens and the Men’s Senior Handball national team.

NOCZ President ALFRED FOLOKO says the recipients of the Olympic solidarity scholarships will receive financial support funded by the International Olympics Committee in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic games.

He says the 10 athletes will each receive a total of 3,000 per quarter and are entitled to 750 dollars per month.

Speaking during the certificate presentation in Lusaka, FOLOKO said the Olympics solidarity scholarship will offer the selected athletes a fixed monthly grant for their training and qualification.
