20 NATIONS EYE 94TH ZAMBIA AGRICULTURAL AND COMMERCIAL SHOW 

MORE than 20 countries have confirmed participation in this year’s 94th Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show which opens in Lusaka tomorrow.

Show society president Duncan Mfula named the participating countries as Burundi, Botswana, Cameroon, China, Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Germany, India, Italy, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Mr Mfula told journalists in Lusaka yesterday that 110 Chinese companies would exhibit at the occasion which had also attracted local exhibitors.

He said President Hakainde Hichilema would officially open the event at the Lusaka Show Grounds on Sunday.

Mr Mfula said the show would run until Monday, under the theme: ‘Innovation through technology transforms businesses’.

Former Commerce minister Emmanuel Chenda has called for special incentives to be accorded to small-holder entrepreneurs during the show.

Mr Chenda said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the show was a platform for exhibitors to package their products well in order to attract the desired market.

He urged local exhibitors at the show to use the event to create synergies which will help in identifying local and foreign markets.

Mr Chenda also commended the Government for the creation of a ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, designed to specifically handle the welfare of SMES.
