ZAMMSA relocates equipment following theft

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has moved all it’s equipment and medicines from a warehouse near the KENNETH KAUNDA International Airport in Lusaka where medical goods worth 1.6 million Kwacha were stolen.

ZAMMSA Director General BILLY MWEETWA says the move has been prompted by the two thefts which left various medical equipment and supplies stolen.

Mr. MWEETWA says the medicines and equipment have been moved to the Central Warehouse in the Light Industrial Area of Lusaka which is more secure as it is manned by private and state security.

AND Mr. MWEETWA has advised the public to report anyone who will be found selling dental kits which were stolen from ZAMMSA.

He said the kits have serial numbers and they can be easily traced.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Information and Media Director Spokesperson THABO KAWANA has revealed that ZAMMSA has distributed cholera kits to all 10 provincial centers in the country.

Mr. KAWANA says the distribution has been done to prepare for any outbreak of cholera away from Eastern and Luapula Provinces were the disease is being fought.

He said this when he visited the ZAMMSA Central Warehouse in Lusaka to check on the operations.
