Opened its doors in 2019 but has been training students without holding graduation ceremonies because the institution did not have a Board in place.
The board was only instituted this year, thereby necessitating the first ever convocation and graduation ceremony under the theme “Building Dreams, Shaping Futures through Skills: Celebrating our Inaugural Graduation”.
Speaking earlier, Isoka Trades Training Institute Principal Cephas Kangwa said Chief Katyetye has given the institution 200 hectares of land.
He disclosed that the institution will now use the land to start commercial crop and livestock production.
He disclosed that the institute has this year signed a memorandum of understanding with Isoka Correctional Service to clear 50 hectares of land for students to start crop production.
“In line with the Government policy, the college would like to go into commercial farming, crop and animal production and value addition because these are critical for diversification” said Mr Kangwa.
Mr Kangwa also commended the UPND administration for introducing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Students Development Fund (SDF) bursaries which are enabling more youths to access skills training at the institute.
“We are able to have students from far and near. This is commendable,” said Mr Kangwa.
He mentioned that Isoka Trades Training Institute opened its doors four years ago to empower young with skills for them to succeed in the ever-evolving world of trades, in which it is succeeding.
However, the Principal bemoaned that only 245 female students representing only 25.4 percent of 963 students were graduating.
He noted that the low number of female graduates is against the desire for the institute to train 50% females of the total college population.
