Solwezi township roads upgrade at K29m

Kansanshi Mining Plc has partnered with the Solwezi Municipal Council to upgrade township roads at the cost of K29 million.

The project will upgrade 4.3 km as part of a mutual swap arrangement between the mining company and the local authority.

During a meeting with Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa, Kansanshi Mining Plc General Manager Anthony Mukutuma confirmed that the mine’s Sites Services Department would undertake the upgrading of the township roads to bituminous standard.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two entities agreed to collaborate closely to ensure the road designs and quality stand the test of time.

Mukutuma stressed Kansanshi Mine’s commitment to the development of Solwezi, as the mine was eager to see the town evolve into a city with high-quality infrastructure.

Kalepa extolled the mine’s dedication to the town’s development, as a testament to the strong relationship between the mine and the council.

The initiative signified an important step in the overall growth and progress of Solwezi and the North-Western Province.

The upgrading of the road network would enhance transportation, connectivity, and accessibility for residents and businesses alike, fostering economic development and improving the quality of life in the area.

The project would also serve as a prime example of partnership and collaboration between Kansanshi and the local authority, demonstrating shared responsibility for the sustainable development of communities.
