ZAMBIA ARMY SOLDIER PROMOTED AFTER HELPING A PREGNANT WOMAN

(ZANIS) Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General DENNIS ALIBUZWI has promoted a Petauke based Lance Corporal HUMPHREY MANGISANI to full corporal for helping a pregnant woman who was in labour to deliver her baby safely on the roadside.

Lance Corporal MANGISANI helped a woman deliver on the way to the clinic between Samulinda village and Mumbi clinic in Petauke District.

Eastern Formation Commander Brigadier General KELVIN KANGUMA confirmed the development saying the promotion is for the action Corporal MANGISANI did despite not being a qualified medical practitioner.

General KANGUMA praised the officer for rising to the occasion to assist the young woman deliver safely.

He said the action taken by the Officer will help to change the people’s perception as they will now understand that a soldier is not there to harm but to help members of society.

The baby has since been named RAYMOND, which means wise protector, by Corporal MANGISANI after the request from the woman’s family.
