THE Government has flagged off the distribution of farming inputs for the 2022/2023 farming season to all districts under the rain-fed cropping component of the food security pack programme.
Community Development and Social Services Minister Doreen Mwamba said the programme was expected to benefit 200,000 households.
“The rain-fed cropping component provides farming inputs to beneficiary households for two consecutive seasons for implementation during the rainy scason. This programme seats well with the Government’s agenda to empower poor and vulnerable farmer households, with skills and inputs to improve productivity,” Ms Mwamba said.
She was speaking during the flagging off ceremony held in Lusaka yesterday.
Ms Mwamba directed the district and provincial administrations to ensure that the inputs reached the intended beneficiaries timely.
At the same occasion, Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata said 12,287 households in the region’s districts were expected to receive farming inputs.
Ms Mulyata said the food security pack was key in alleviating poverty through increasing household incomes.
