The Ministry of Tourism says it will restock six national parks across the country to increase animal population.
Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA has named Mosi-oa-Tunya, Kafue, Lower Zambezi, Nsumbu, South and North Luangwa National Parks as those that will benefit from the restocking exercise.
Mr. SIKUMBA says currently the country is in the breeding season which will end in May before the distribution of animals is conducted to the National parks.
He further says in the 2023 National Budget the Ministry has deliberately suggested an incentive for importation of breeding stock for wildlife in order to grow the animal population.
The Minister said this in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today.
He has encouraged Zambians to partner with private investors in setting up private game ranches saying doing so will help the country maintain ecosystems.
Mr. SIKUMBA also urged traditional leaders to set up community game ranches that will instill a sense of ownership among community members.
