About one hundred Zambian nurses are set to be recruited to work in the United Kingdom.
This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understand between the Zambia Union of Government and Allied Workers and NEU Professionals Limited from UK in Lusaka today.
Interviews for nurses that applied were conducted in Lusaka today.
UG General Secretary John Nsululus says a team will travel to the UK to see some of the hospitals where the nurses will be working from to strengthen regulatory, monitoring and enforcement mechanism to avoid abusive and frequent recruitment practices.
Meanwhile NEU Professionals Limited Managing Director Edyta Ozbek said her institution will be back in Zambia to recruit more nurses in three months time.
Ms .OZBEK said the UK has a shortage of over 50,000 health workers and targets to recruit a minimum of 5,000 nurses from other countries each year.
