Government advised to quickly review tenders for the supply of Urea fertilizer for the 2023/24 farming season

The National Association for Smallholder Farmers In Zambia (NASFAZ) has advised the Ministry of Agriculture to quickly review tenders for the supply of urea fertilizer for the 2023/24 farming season.

NASFAZ President Frank Kayula tells Phoenix News that reviewing the tenders on time will enable farmers to plan in advance as they will be aware of which companies will supply them with urea just as is the case with compound d fertilizer.

Reacting to the early floating of tenders for the supply of inputs for the 2023/24 farming season, Dr. Kayula says the exercise should however not be academic that should be marred by unnecessary delays as was the case in the previous season.

Dr. Kayula adds that as much as farmers welcome the direct bidding in the supply of compound d fertilizer, he is hopeful that the exercise will not be characterized by corruption.

To ensure farmers get farming inputs early in the 2023/24 farming season, government has advertised for the supply, delivery, warehousing and distribution of 120,380 metric tons of compound d fertilizer and 120, 380 metric tons of urea.
