President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Government is committed to ensuring that all schools are adequately equipped with desks.
The President says there shall be no child sitting on the floor by the end of next year and has directed all Government officials to ensure the directive is actualized.
The President further says the desks will not be imported but made locally to ensure Zambian carpenters and welders are empowered.
The President was speaking during the celebrations to mark World Teachers’ Day in Lusaka today.
Mr. HICHLEMA said more resources are being put into constituencies and that part of the funds must go towards supporting education.
And the President said Government has completed construction of 82 secondary schools under the first phase of a project being undertaken with the help of the World Bank.
The President saids 120 more schools will be constructed as Government continues to support the education sector.
