ARMY SUPPORTS YOUTH SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General SITALI ALIBUZWI says the army attaches great importance to sports development in the country, especially if it involves the youth.

General ALIBUZWI says sports like swimming offer an opportunity for young athletes to build careers and put Zambia on the map.

He has also paid tribute to organizations that are supporting vulnerable children in society and engaging them in sports activities.

General ALIBUZWI was speaking in a speech read on his behalf by Director General Sports, Commerce and Community Services Branch Brigadier General KYLIAN TEMBO during the Zambia Swimming Union -ZASU- developmental swimming gala in Lusaka.

He praised Kanele Swimming club, a community based club with about 50 percent of it’s members coming from the underprivileged households for setting trends in supporting young people to have passion for swimming.

He said the vision of the community based club has the potential to build young men and women who will become respected and responsible future members of society through its vision.
