Agriculture Minister Mutolo Phiri says the infestation of the fall armyworms has spread to all ten provinces of Zambia.
Addressing the media this morning, Mr Phiri says government has since sent out a total of 110 liters of pesticides to all the affected intensified districts efforts to stop the spread the devastating pest.
Mr. Phiri says 96 out of the 116 districts have recorded the infestation representing about 129, 517 hectares of the affected land.
Meanwhile, Mr. Phiri has disclosed that some farmers are exporting the soya beans seed which they benefited under Farmer Input Support Programme –FISP- following a high demand for soya beans from the Southern African Region by the Chinese market.
He is concerned that government is spending a lot on the procurement of the seed which farmers receive almost free and now opt to sale overlooking the intended purpose.
