Bank of Zambia says has extended deadline for the payment of depositors of Investrust Bank Plc from the initial May 10, 2024 to Friday, May 17, 2024.
Bank of Zambia, Assistant Director – Communications Besnat Mwanza said the extension comes as a response to accommodate depositors who may still need to make claims for their funds.
Ms Mwanza however emphasized that this extension will be the final one, as further extensions would disrupt other crucial processes essential for the resolution of Investrust Bank.
“Depositors are strongly urged to take advantage of this extended deadline and collect their funds from the designated pay points. As the Bank we want to reassure depositors that no one will lose their funds. Even those who have not accessed their money by May 17 or have only accessed up to the initial limit of K500,000 will have full access to their funds after the completion of the resolution plan,” she adds.
Ms Mwanza further added that the resolution plan is anticipated to conclude by the end of June 2024. The cessation of payments on May 17th, 2024, will facilitate the completion of the Statement of Affairs and the determination of an appropriate resolution option.
