EIGHT PEOPLE PERISH IN KABWE ACCIDENT

EIGHT People have died while several others have sustained injuries in a road accident that happened at a curve near Fig Tree on the Great North Road in Kabwe.

The accident happened today around 08:00 hours.

Central Province Commanding Officer, DONALD MWANDILA confirmed the incident to ZNBC News in LUSAKA today.

Mr. MWANDILA said the accident happened after a truck being driven by a Tanzanian national and a Toyota Hiace bus collided head-on.

He explained that the driver of the truck failed to keep his near side and collided head on with the Bus.

Mr MWANDILA said several other passengers in the Hiace bus sustained injuries and are admitted to KABWE Central Hospital.

Mr. MWANDILA has since indentified those that sustained injuries as RALLY LUBABA 24 of Chibombo, RODGERS CHOONGO 31 of Chawama, EMMANUEL SAKALA 26 of Kabwe, ERICK SIFUKWE 22 of Chazanga and JOSHUA SILONDA 23 a ZNS Officer of ZNS Training School.

He said SIX other women of unknown address have also been admitted to Hospital.

Mr MWANDILA said the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in Kabwe Central mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.

He said the front part of the truck and bus have been extensively damaged.
