Energy Expert Chiko Mudenda has advised the general public not to panic with the anticipated reintroduction of taxes on diesel and petrol as they will have an insignificant effect on the prices of the two commodities.
Mr. Mudenda tells Phoenix Business News in an interview that with the appreciation of the Kwacha the country will import fuel with less Kwacha while the current price reduction of finished products entails that importation of the commodity will not be as high as seen in the past.
He has also projected that by the end of the next three months, Zambia will record a further reduction in fuel prices of up to K17 thereby putting the country in a safe zone.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mudenda says upwards electricity price adjustments are a must for the country if it is to make any meaningful investments and that people should be prepared to adjust to the new pricing.
