FAZ clinches germany friendly for copper queens

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) in conjunction with the German Football Association (DFB) wishes to announce that the Copper Queens will face off with the Die Nationalelf on 7th July 2023 in an international friendly at Sportpark Ronhof in Fürth.
Both teams will be using the match as part of preparations for the 2023 FIFA World Cup which kicks off on July 20 in Australia/New Zealand.
FAZ Acting General Secretary Iva Lengwe says the friendly was consistent with the high bar set for international friendly matches by Football House to prepare the team for its maiden FIFA World Cup appearance.
“We are extremely delighted to announce a historic friendly match between the Zambia Women National Team and Germany in Furth as part intensified preparations for the FIFA World Cup,” Lengwe says.
“The two-time women world champions and eight-time European championship holders will no doubt provide a good test for our team. We are conscious that for the Copper Queens to be among the best on the planet, they must be ready to stand toe-to-toe with big teams on the planet.”
At the 2023 FIFA World Cup, Germany will be in Group H with South Korea, Colombia, and Morocco while Zambia stands in Group C alongside Spain, Japan, and Costa Rica. The Copper Queens have so far played with Colombia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Uzbekistan, and South Korea as part of structured preparations for the World Cup.
Zambia will open its World Cup campaign on July 22 against Japan in Hamilton before facing Spain four days later at Eden Park Auckland. The final Group C match will be against Costa Rica on July 31 at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton.
