Feasibility study to better Zambia’s Gold mining underway

Zambia’s quest to sanitize the gold mining sector has advanced with feasibility studies underway to unlock the sub-sector.

Mines And Mineral Development Minister Paul Kabuswe tells Phoenix News that Artisanal and Small Scale Mining feasibility studies have already been funded and the team is already on the ground toward operationalizing a well-structured gold mining industry in Zambia.

The minister, who travelled to Mapatizia last week to assess the situation on the lithium program and to ensure it is structured properly, is confident that Zambia will soon harness the full potential and benefits of the artisanal and small scale mining industry.

Zambia’s Gold Mining sector has not hit full production with the change of government in August 2021 coming with a suspension of operations at the country’s second largest Gold Mine, Mwinilunga’s Kasenseli Gold Mine that was only lifted mid last year.

But Mr. Kabuswe hints that gold mining and the lithium program will become fully functional and to production soon.
