Green Economy and Environment Minister, Collins Nzovu says the recent floods in the country have shown a gap in the application of engineering.
And, Mr Nzovu says engineering is key in designing infrastructure that can beat climate change.
He says Government wants the EIZ to take a lead in solving problems in collaboration with the other stakeholders.
Mr Nzovu was speaking during the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) Southern Region Annual General meeting.
And, EIZ President Abel Ng’andu said EIZ Council will continue to engage Government on issues such as Infrastructure development and floods.
Mr Ng’andu said this is because ZAMBIA needs climate resilient infrastructure.
Earlier, EIZ Southern Region Chairperson, Dumisan Khata said engineers have positioned themselves to tap into Constituency Development Fund.
