The tournament was centered around promoting community safety, a behavioral change awareness aimed at sensitizing communities to understand risks and hazards associated with mining.
12 schools including Lwanvundu, Jiundu, Kisasa and Chovwe Secondary schools; Kankonjhi, Musele, Kisasa, Kanzala, Kachiwezhi, Chitungu, Kalumbila North and Wanyinwa primary schools took part in the tournament.
FQM Trident Ltd General Manager Junior Keyser said the mining firm is passionate about promoting grassroots sport and the use of the players as peer educators in promoting community safety is good way to encourage responsible behavior among their peers.
He said the mine is committed to developing skills and discipline in young people and will continue to hold sporting events as a way of supporting young talented people in in schools and the local community.
Kalumbila District Administrative Officer Frank Siatwinda thanked the Mine for its intervention in uplifting the lives of youths in the district.
