Government advised not to relax in investing in other energy sources

Energy Expert Bornface Zulu has advised the government not to relax in its efforts to invest in other sources of energy following the recent decision to import electricity from neighbouring Mozambique.

On Friday last week, Energy Minister Peter Kapala announced that Zambia is this week expected to start importing power from Mozambique as ZESCO Limited will be able to pay back the US$24 Million debt it owes that country.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr Zulu says despite the government settling the debt it owed to Mozambique for the electricity supplied by that country, there is a need to quickly consider looking at alternatives sources of energy such as solar and wind among others.

Mr Zulu has however commended the government for its decision to import power from Mozambique which he says will help cushion load shedding that the country has been experiencing which has adversely affected many businesses.
