Government assessing provincial business expos that were held under the previous regime

Government says it is evaluating the provincial business expos that were held under the previous government to pursue some of the business prospects that arose to the benefit of Zambians.

The PF administration held provincial investment forums and expos on the Copperbelt and Luapula provinces, with a view to ride on the private sector to realize the vision 2030 to turn Zambia into a middle income country.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Chipoka Mulenga described the investment expos under the past regime as a good initiative that can benefit the Zambian people once followed up and well implemented.

Mr. Mulenga says government is aware that the initiatives attracted various investment opportunities from foreign companies interested in the agriculture, mining and tourism sectors among others, and will not dismiss them simply because they were done by the previous regime.

He explains that government is interested in investment opportunities for Zambia and has disclosed that the EU-Zambia Business Forum held last year has culminated into agreements that will see European companies build pharmaceuticals to produce drugs for hospitals locally.
