Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the government is engaging millers on modalities of stabilising mealie meal prices.
And Mrs. Nalumango says the government is not giving any incentive to the Zambia National Services on maize production.
She was responding to Sinazongwe Member of Parliament Gift Sialubalo, who wanted to know if ZNS is producing cheap mealie meal on account of receiving incentives from the government on the maize production .
This was during the vice president’s Question Time in Parliament.
Mrs. Nalumango has also called on Zambians to guard against maize smuggling to prevent possible deficit of the commodity.
She was reacting to Nkana Member of Parliament Binewell Mpundu who wanted to know why there is a shortage of maize in some parts of Eastern Province.
