Government has revealed that it is working towards ensuring that the national payment switch is linked to various payment platforms so that the system inter-operates.
Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati said this move will minimize transaction costs particularly for SMEs thereby increasing their ability to generate wealth.
Mr Mutati said once implemented, the linked system will be one form for government to accumulate the required revenue and minimize wastage seamlessly.
And Mr Mutati said it is government’s target that by the year 2024, over 500 government services will be delivered to citizens easily using the government service bus and gateway.
He said government services will be propped up through the government service bus thereby enabling citizens access the services in the comfort of their homes because that is the future of the country’s digital transformation.
The minister was speaking today when he officially opened the ACCA Zambia business leaders conference held at Avani Hotel in Livingstone.
And Mr Mutati said government will ensure that digital transformation remains central in enabling all sectors of the economy among them mining energy, tourism, agriculture begin to deliver results.
Mr Mutati said the country now has this rare ability to create sustainable solutions not only through innovation but integrity and inclusiveness.
Meanwhile, Mr Mutati has called on accountants across the country to have a mind-set change by being innovative and do things differently in order to sustain the profession.
