THE Government has appointed a technical working group under the Public Private Dialogue Forum to review the operations of Zamtel and recommend best options for the benefit of both private and public sector.
Science and Technology Minister Felix Mutati said the Ministry would review the committee’s recommendations and present them to Cabinet for finalisation and Communication to the Zambian public.
“We would like to thank all the partners that are helping us through this process and encourage the Zambian Citizens as well as Zamtel management and staff to be patient with the process and provide the Government with the support needed at this particular time,” Mr. Mutati said.
He was speaking during a press briefing held in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr. Mutati said the Government was committed to resolving the operational challenges being faced by Zamtel through a structured and consultative process involving Government, private sector and independent experts.
He said Zamtel management and staff should be comforted of a future for the company ahead of them.
