AROUND K2.6 billion has been paid to all Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF) retirees up to December 31, 2021, Chief Government Spokesperson Chushi Kasanda has said.
Ms Kasanda said in a statement yesterday that the Government was on course in the disbursement of payments for pension areas that accumulated during the previous administrations.
She said what had remained for PSPF retirees, were dues for those who retired this year, amounting to K1.1 billion which the Government was also determined to clear.
“Regarding those under the Local Authorities Superannuation Fund (LASF), Government has paid K300 million, between last year and this year, leaving a balance of K150 million,” she said.
Ms Kasanda who is also Information and Media said the Government had also made a supplementary budget, of a K1 billion provision for PSPF and K150 million for LASF for payment of pension arrears.
She said the clearance of the outstanding dues was in line with the Government’s desire and determination to resolve dignity in the lives of retirees after working so hard and for so many years for the country.
“In this regard, the United Party for National Development (UPND) Government has since assuming office in August last year been releasing funds to the PSPF and LASF for payment of pension,” she said.
