(ZANIS) At least eight families in Kafula village in Kasama district have been left in the cold after their houses collapsed due to heavy rains.
Five shops and a church building have also been damaged in the same area.
A check by ZANIS found victims salvaging some household goods and iron sheets from the rubble.
Northern Province Permanent Secretary, BERNARD MPUNDU, has visited the area to assess the extent of the damage and promised that government will intervene.
Mr MPUNDU said government will provide tents and food stuffs to the affected families.
