PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has called for intensified sensitisation on the on going National Census of Housing and Population, which he officially launched on August 17, 2022.
President Hichilema said the census results would determine Zambia’s development priorities.
President Hichilema said through a message on his Facebook page.
“We therefore call upon everyone to make it your singular call to sensitise those that are not fully aware about this exercise. Make a call to your friends and relatives and inform them of this, very important ongoing exercise,” President Hichilema said.
President Hichilema called on local leaders at various levels, traditional leaders, church leaders and others in communities to help in the sensitisation of citizens on the census.
Some census enumerators have been facing resistance in some areas.
The Zambia Statistics Agency started census enumeration on August 18, 2022 and is expected to conclude the exercise on September 14, 2022.
The 2022 census marks the sixth count of the Zambia population and the first time that enumerators are using Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing.
