INFLATION INCREASES TO 9.9%

Zambia’s annual inflation for July 2022 increased to 9.9 percent from 9.7 percent recorded last month.
 
Zambia Statistics Agency -ZAMSTATS- Interim Statistician General MULENGA MUSEPA says this means that prices of goods and services increased by 9.9 percent.
 
Mr. MUSEPA has cited food items such as Fish, Fruits and cooking oil as having recorded prices movements.
 
He says Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces contributed the highest at 2.5 percentage points to the overall annual inflation while North-western, Eastern and Western provinces had the lowest contributions of 0.4 and 0.5 percentage points, respectively.
 
Mr. MUSEPA adds that the cumulative Total trade for the period January to June this stood at 176.7 billion kwacha which is a decrease from 181.3-billion kwacha the same period last year.
