ZAMBIAN blood transfusion specialist Joseph Mulenga has been conferred with the order of the rising sun, gold and silver rays by the Japanese emperor.
This is in his honour of his contribution towards the promotion and strengthening of the bilateral relationship between Zambia and Japan.
The honour has been bestowed on Dr Mulenga in his capacity as the Zambia Japan Friendship Association (ZAJIFA) President.
Speaking during the conferment ceremony in Lusaka on Thursday Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Mizuuchi Ryuta said Dr. Mulenga has held the position since 1997.
Mr Mizuuchi hailed Dr. Mulenga’s contribution to the global medicine faculty as a blood transfusion specialist.
At the same occasion Japan International Cooperation Agency Zambia Chief Representative Yonebayashi Norihito thanked Dr. Mulenga for his contribution towards strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Receiving the accolade, Dr. Mulenga said the appreciation was an honour in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The speakers also paid tribute to late former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who authorised the emperor’s honour of Dr. Mulenga.
