KWSC SECURES K1.5m FOR LUANSHYA WATER CHALLENGES

KAFUBU Water Supply and Sewerage Company (KWSC) has secured about K1.5 million to address water and sanitation chal lenges in Roan and Mpatamatu townships in Luanshya.

KWSC marketing and public relation manager Misheck Moyo said the water utility was fully aware of the water and sanitation challenges that residents of Roan and Mpatamatu were faced with.

Mr Moyo said the utility had put in place both long and short term remedial measures to ensure the residents in the affected areas had continuous access to water and acceptable sanitation services.

He said the company had already laid down a new 20-inch-b-nine kilometers waterline to take supply to the two townships.

He said the project was being done under the Kafulafuta Water Supply System Project.

“The new pipe to service the two areas has since been tested and is only waiting to be pressurised. The general public is further being reminded that the Kafulafuta Water System Supply Project has since resumed following the release of funds by the central Government,” he said.

He said the Kafulafuta project which stalled for some time now would resume by the end of September 2022.

Mr Moyo assured resi dents of Roan and Mpata matu that the utility was currently replacing worn out sewer lines in the affected areas.

“Kafubu Water and Sanitation Company KWSC is also working with the office of the Roan Constitucy Lawmaker to ensure that the sewer lines are replaced in section 23,24 and section 2 BB.
“As a long term gesture, KWSC has crafted a consolidated sewer project that is still receiving active consideration where the entire sewer network in Roan and Mpatamatu will be replaced,” he said.
