Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutatis has praised Lupiya online Financial Services for its effort in providing digital financial inclusion especially for women.
He said this initiative also which attracted the attention of United States of America Vice President Kamara Harris when she came to Zambia opted to visit the institution.
He said the government through the Ministry of Technology and Science last year had launched the Digital Transformation Strategy focusing on two key pillars of digital financial inclusion and Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Speaking when he visited Lupiya office today, Mr Mutati said Lupiya financial services has proven that the transformation strategy launched last year has started to deliver practical results.
The Minister also stressed that Lupiya is the first Zambian Financial Technology among thirty African Fintech who were able to tangle with google under the google founder initiative.
He added that Lupiya last year also forged a partnership with Master Card to deliver cashless payment which is a great achievement in promoting technology.
And Lupiya Chief Executive Officer Evelyn Kaingu said the vision for Lupiya is to drive innovation and make a difference in the lives of people.
She said the institution with a capital of k6800 managed to empower 18 women in agripreneur to expand their businesses.
She said the funds will be used to expand the business to Copperbelt, Northwestern, Tanzania and Malawi
