MUTATI TASKS ZICTA BOARD TO UP CYBER SECURITY

(ZNBC)-Government has tasked the new Zambia Information and Technology Authority ZICTA Board to set premium on cyber security.

Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI has also tasked the board to investigate the causes of bad network by operators and bring sanity to the sector.

He says there is need to create mechanisms to monitor performance of operators to provide quality services.

Mr. MUTATI has also expressed concern that the ICT sector has not been contributing significantly to the country’s GDP, which is currently at only two percent.

He was speaking when unveiled the new ZICTA board in Lusaka today.

Those appointed include Professor MUNDIA MUYA as Board Chairperson and MILNER MAKUNI as the Vice.

Others are SCHMIDT JOHN CHINTU, EDWARD CHITETA, BEATRICE MUTANDI, BUBALA CHIBBONTA and MAUREEN MWANZA.

Meanwhile, Prof. MUYA requested from Government that ZICTA retains the fees it raises, as is the case with sister regulators.

He said this will result in enhanced performance for the authority as well as service delivery.
