NCZ TO SUPPLY 47,308MT OF FERTILIZER UNDER FISP

The Government has awarded Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) a tender to supply 47,385 metric tonnes of fertilizer under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) for the 2022/23 farming season.
This is the largest allocation to NCZ under FISP and is triple the previous year’s allocation of 13,000 MT. NCZ will distribute its allocation to three provinces namely Lusaka, Central and the Copperbelt. Of the total consignment, the company has so far produced 20,000MT while the remainder is expected to be ready in the next few weeks.
Speaking while flagging off the distribution of fertilizer at the NCZ premises, Agriculture Minister Hon. Reuben Mtolo Phiri pledged the Government’s support to improve NCZ’s production capacities to enable it to increase its contribution to FISP.
He added that the Government had rationalized the FISP beneficiary mechanism to ensure that only targeted beneficiaries receive the farming inputs under the subsidy program.
