The National Health Insurance Management Authority-NHIMA- has urged employers to be compliant in submitting returns and remitting employee contributions to NHIMA in order to avoid inconveniencing employees when need for healthcare arises.
In an interview with phoenix news, NHIMA director quality assurance and accreditation, Dr. Mpuma Kamanga says much as NHIMA provides access to health insurance, it is the duty of the employers to submit and remit employees contributions to make the insurance work.
Dr Kamanga further says as a result of non-compliance by some employers, NHIMA management approved to set up a compliance unit which is an inspectorate as a way to engage institutions that are non-compliant when it comes to remitting employee contributions.
He has however urged members of the public to ensure they verify their details online to ensure their account is valid and also report employees who deduct contributions from their account, but yet do not submit to NHIMA.
