NO MILITARY RECRUITMENT YET-LUFUMA

FRAUDSTERS have become busy on social media posting fake recruitment advertisments in the country’s security wings after Defence Minister Ambrose Lufuma announced that the Government will start recruiting new personnel by October, this year.

Mr. Lufuma warnned members of the public in a statement yesterday not to to fall for the scammers as they risked being swindled adding that there were no recruitments under the Zambia Army, Zambia National Service and the Zambia Air Force.

Mr. Lufuma said the scammers were luring people to pay a fee so that they could facilitate their recruitment into the security wings.

“The unscrupulous persons have created fake defence force recruitment advertisments on social media and they are requesting for money from would-be applicants who respond to the adverts,” he said.

He said once the genuine recruitment was underway, an official advert would be published in the newspapera inviting applications and the process would not require anyone to pay for a favour.
“This is the New Dawn Government, this Government knows no Ka something (bribi) in order for one to be employed,” he said.

Mr. Lufuma said the recruitment process would be done in a professional and transparent manner and each corner of Zambia would be considered.

He added that the Zambia Police Service was working round the clock to bring the culprits to book and urged members of the public to report anyone who asked for money in exchange for employment.

“Members of the public are further advised not to pay anything to anyone for them to be recruited. Recruitments are free, you do not have to know anyone to be recruited, knowing someone in Government for you to be recruited will be a sheer waste of time and both of you will be arrested ‘ Mr. Lufuma said.

Mr. Lufuma announced when he featured on ZNBC TV’s Government Forum Programme and in a statement posted on his Facebook recently that the Ministry of Defence was by October this year expected to start the recruitment of 5,000 military personnel.
