Plans to split the University of Zambia(UNZA) into five university colleges are still on hold as the university awaits guidance from the Ministry of Education.
Acting head of communication and marketing Damaseke Chibale said UNZA management already did its part regarding the process that would lead to splitting the university to separate faculties.
Mr Chibale said yesterday in an interview, that the process was, however, put on hold, last year.
“Those (plans) were put on hold in 2020 until further guidance from the ministry (of Education) . We had done our part: all that was required from our part, “ he said.
In 2017, the government announced plans to split UNZA into five university colleges, a move which was expected to help improve efficiency in operations of the institution
