Home Affairs Minister, Jack Mwiimbu has advised the Zambia Police and the Drug Enforcement Commission(DEC) to work together in crushing criminal gangs popularly known as Junkies.
Mr Mwiimbu says the police and the DEC should fight the emergence of criminal mobs that are terrorizing the public.
Mr Mwiimbu further said that the Ministry has started the tender process for the procurement of the 156 vehicles for effective police operations.
Mr Mwiimbu this during the Zambia Police Service open day in Lusaka which is being held under the theme police service and community in partnership to fight crime.
And, Inspector General of Police, Lemmy Kajoba has advised the police to adhere to instructions when they are given by their commands .
Mr Kajoba further said Zambia Police open day accords the service an opportunity to interact with the public and cooperating partners with the aim of reviewing and strengthening the relationship.
Mr Kajoba said the role that the police officers play in ensuring that the rule of law and order is upheld is critical to the country enjoying peace
