PREACH ON KEEPING SURROUNDING CLEAN, GOVT URGES CHURCH

THE Government has called on the Church to reach out to it’s members on the importance of keeping their surroundings clean.

Central Province Minister Credo Nanjuwa said the Church should help reach out it’s congregants on issues of cleanliness of their surroundings.

Mr Nanjuwa said this in a speech read for him by his Deputy Godfrey Chitambala during the commemorations of World Clean -Up Day and the Keep Kabwe Clean Campaign held at the Civic Centre.

“Let me also call on the religious institutions to help us reach out to people in churches on these issues as we can’t continue living in dirty surroundings and be comfortable as they says ‘cleanliness is next to Godliness ‘ we certainly can do better as a town,” he said.

He said the programme was in line with Government’s campaign, of keeping Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy, and was important in the wake of disease outbreaks that required all to be clean.

Mr. Nanjuwa said the exercise remained all to take interest in the state of their surroundings and ensure that they were clean, green and Healthy.

“I therefore wish to urge the business community to come on board to support this very important campaign by ensuring that they clean their areas of operations,”he said.

Kabwe Mayor Patrick Chishala said the Kabwe Municipal Council (KMC) had intensified the collection of garbage in the Central Business District.

Mr. Chishala called on Civic leaders to drive the making of the Keep Kabwe Clean, Green and Healthy campaign.

“There is a need for behavioural change among the people on garbage disposal and we work to transform Kabwe for it to attain the city status,” he said.

Various Government departments and members of the security wings were in attendance during the exercise.
