RTSA, BUS OPERATORS AGREE ON NEW BUS FARES

The Road Transport and Safety Agency -RTSA- has re-adjusted bus fares after complaints by bus drivers.

This follows Wednesday’s re-engagement with stakeholders to resolve contentious issues on the adjustment of bus fares.

The fares for Intercity long distance routes will reduce by 10% from the 14% earlier announced.

RTSA Head of Public Relations FREDRICK MUBANGA says for the peri-urban routes in Lusaka and on the Copperbelt, the fares have reduced by four kwacha.

Mr. MUBANGA says for local routes in Lusaka and the Copperbelt, the fares have reduced by two kwacha.

The new bus fares are effective today, August 12 , 2022.

In a statement to to the media, Mr. MUBANGA has called on bus operators to revise the fare charts and display.

The fares were initially reduced by 5-kwacha for local routes, 7-kwacha for peri urban routes and 14% on Intercity routes.

This was after ERB announced a reduction in fuel pump prices.
