Commonwealth and Africa’s Gold medalist MUZALA SAMUKONGA has been ranked 16th in the World out 100 athletes in the 400 meters race.
SAMUKONGA, who has risen to stardom on the global map following his impressive performance at the Commonwealth games and Africa Senior Championship, also tops the list as Africa’s second fastest man in the 400 meters race.
WAYDE VAN NIEKERK of South Africa who is ranked 14th with a time of 44.58, tops the list among African athletes.
SAMUKONGA has been ranked 16th due to his personal best which is 44.66 that he run at the Commonwealth games winning him gold.
This is according to the official world rankings of the top one -hundred athletes in the 400 meters race.
American Sprinter MICHAEL NORMAN who has a personal best time of 43.56 tops the list and is followed by fellow country mate CHAMPION ALLISON on 43.70 while KIRANI JAMES of Grenada is third with a time of 44.02.
And, Zambia Athletics President ELIAS MPONDELA is elated with SAMUKONGA’s latest ranking.
