ZANIS-Northern Province Permanent Secretary BERNARD MPUNDU has urged schools to intensify fish farming projects in their production units.
Mr. MPUNDU says fish farming in schools is not only beneficial for income generation and consumption but also important in imparting skills in learners.
He says the government wants to promote the aquaculture sub-sector to meet the growing demand for fish.
Mr. MPUNDU said this when he graced a fish harvesting exercise at Gibeon Adventist Secondary School in Mungwi District.
Earlier, SDA North Zambia Field President, SAMUEL SINYANGWE said the church will continue to work with the government in enhancing socio-economic development.
Pastor SINYANGWE expressed confidence that the fish farming project among others will equip pupils with necessary skills which they will use for a lifetime.
And Northern Province Education Officer GRACE SINKOLONGO said her office is determined to effectively implement the government policy on the establishment of production units.
