SPEAK FREELY ABOUT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH’

HEALTH Minister Sylvia Masebo has urged the youth to freely engage and speak about adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).

Ms Masebo said this was a personal responsibility, where an individual should take keen interest about preserving their well-being.

“Today’s youth deal with a number of challenges including: teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, among others. It is therefore imperative that you freely engage to find common solutions to some of these challenges,” Ms Masebo said.

She was speaking during an annual national youth dialogue with young people held in partnership with Restless Development Hub and the BBC Media Action in Lusaka yesterday.

Ms Masebo said the Government had created a number of platforms for youths to realise their capacity of contributing to national development.

She cited among others, the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Ms Masebo urged the youth to explore indigenous community opportunities before seeking greener pastures beyond their habitats.

At the same occasion, Restless Development Hub Zambia country director Chanda Nkhoma said the Indaba had brought young people from adverse background to share ideas on increase youth participantion in the country’s social and economic development.

Ms Nkhoma said the forum also considered thematic areas of building effective structures for realising SRHR.
