START-UPS BILL COMING

THE Government is in the process of formulating a Bill in Parliament to support new technological innovations, Science and Technology Minister Felix Mutati has said.
Mr Mutati said once enacted, the Start Ups Bill would help create opportunities for young innovators to access financing for innovation projects.
He was speaking when he officiated at an AfriLabs annual gathering-2022 partnership breakfast held in Lusaka yesterday.
This was ahead of the organisation’s indaba which would be hosted in Zambia this year.
Mr Mutati called for strong collaboration between existing and emerging technology industry players to promote information and ideas’ exchange.
He said the hosting of the indaba was timely because it came at a time when the Government was leveraging on technology use to fast-track service delivery to the citizens.
At the same occasion, Smart Zambia national coordinator Percy Chinyama said a portal had been developed, on which all the 1,500 government services would be adopted.
Mr Chinyama urged the private sector to work to work closely with the Government in enhancing the capacity of local technology entities in running sustainable start-up projects. To
