Water Development Minister, Mike Mposha has directed authorities in Chinsali, Muchinga province, to stop the encroachment around the Lubu dam.
Mr. Mposha says in the next 2 weeks the people who have erected a wire fence near the dam must be identified and stopped.
The Minister was speaking in Chinsali district, when he called on Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary, Henery Mukungule and Senior Chief Nkula, Chief Nkweto and Chief Mbanga.
Mr. Mposha has called for concerted efforts in protecting waterbodies which are being encroached by people.
And Mr. Mposha says government is committed to ensure all citizens have access to safe and clean water by 2030.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mukungule has said once commissioned, the Lubu dam will provide clean and safe drinking water to the people of Chinsali, who mostly depend on shallow wells.
