TROPICAL STORM ANA SLOWS DOWN IMPORTATION AND EXPORTATION OF GOODS AT CHANIDA AND MWAMI BOARDER POSTS-ZRA

Tropical Storm Ana currently experienced in Mozambique and other parts of Southern Africa has affected the flow of international traffic flow on the Eastern route.

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) through a media release, posted on their official Facebook page announced the effects of the storm on trade and international transport routes.

Trade to sea ports through the Mozambique-Zambia Chanida border post and Mwami border post separating Zambia and Malawi has slowed down.

The situation has adversely affected the importation and exportation of goods on these routes.

ZRA has assured stakeholders and the general public sanity as it has been making necessary arrangements to minimize the effects of the storm on traffic flow by increasing processing efficiency.

It has further encouraged importers and exporters and clearing agents to utilize the available trade facilitation tools such as pre-lodgement, preclearance and electronic payments.

ZRA has further advised customs clearing agents and handlers of exports and transit goods that have delayed to make exit due to the effects of Tropical Storm Ana and report to the nearest customs House to have the transit period extended until the situation is normalized.
