Vice-President W.K Mutale-Nalumango has directed the Copperbelt Provincial and Ndola district administration to expedite construction of a new market in Ndola.
Speaking when she met the affected traders of Kapalala Market in Ndola Ms Mutale-Nalumango said she was in the Copperbelt acting on behalf the president to appreciate the affected traders following the recent gutted market.
“Acting on behalf of the President whose heart is a sacrifice in servicing the good people of Zambia, I pronounced the following for the affected families and DMMU is already on the ground, 25KG bags of mealie meal, 5kg of rice, 50 bags of beans and 1000 per family,” she said.
Ms Mutale-Nalumango further assured the affected traders that in less than seven days all the traders will be shifted to a new market. “I have further instructed both the District and Provincial Administrations to coordinate, finish the new market on construction and shift people in not later than Seven days. To this effect the construction of boreholes are to start by this coming Monday,” she said.
On date Kapalala market traders where greeted with devastating news as the trading place was gutted.
Investigation are still going on to determine the cause of the fire.
