VICE PRESIDENT TO MEET NDOLA’S KAPALALA MARKET TRADERS

VICE President W.K Mutale Nalumango is today expected in Ndola for a one day working visit to meet and grieve with traders that lost goods in the fire that swept through the Kapalala market on Tuesday evening.

Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo said in Ndola yesterday that Ms Mutale Nalumango will meet the traders and provide guidelines on the Government’s intentions to handle their issue.

Mr. Matambo said Ms Mutale Nalumango would lad at the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola at 09:00 hours and proceed to Kapalala market in Masala Township.

The Vice President is coming here tomorrow(today) she is coming to make some pronouncements regarding what has happened here. The pronouncements will address the short term and long term of the happeninigs here,”he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Matambo said the Government had decided to relocate the traders affected by the inferno to the newly constructed Kapalala market on Saturday this week and preparations have since reached an advanced stage.

He said the Government was taking measures aimed at preventing a reoccurence of a fire and that permanent structures would be constructed.

“What ghappened here would not be a trend, we need to take measures si that the incident does not happen again,”
he said
