The Zambia National Service (ZNS) on the Copperbelt has intercepted trucks and other vehicles which were found loaded with about 8,000 bags of mealie-meal.
The mealie-meal was destined to be smuggled into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
ZNS Regional Commander, Christopher Chaponda says those who are involved in smuggling will not just lose the mealie-meal but also their vessels as well.
Colonel Chaponda says the officers have intensified their crackdown on smuggling, especially along Kasumbalesa and other borders.
He has said this when Copperbelt Province Minister, Elisha Lisha Matambo inspected the intercepted trucks and other vehicles.
And Mr Matembo has urged the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) to quickly dispose off the matter, so that the mealie-meal can be taken to Kitwe, Chingola and Chililabombwe towns.
