(Times of Zambia)- The Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM) says it will bestow Presidet Hakainde Hichilema with the institution’s fellowship following his declaration as the country’s Chief Marketing Officer.
ZIM president Mwewa Besa said the organisation was encouraged by the president’s vigour in marketing the country as a top investment destination.
“As marketers, we should take a leaf from the president’s resolve to extensively market the country and it is in this vein that we have chosen to honour him as a fellow of ZIM, “ Mr Besa said.
He was speaking during a ZIM gala dinner held in Lusaka on Wednesday.
At the same occasion, acting Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Rodney Sikumba encouraged the institution to enhance support to training institutions for marketers.
This, Mr Sikumba said was to ensure that marketers conducted their work in line with modern day profession trends.
“There is also need for the marketing profession to streamline with other professions such as procurement to actualise the prudent use of funds in the purchase of goods and services,” he said.
The occasion also coincided with the launch of the Zambian Women in Marketing, with Mr Besa imploring the female folk to take interest in participating actively in growing the profession.
